Where do you have to collect sales tax? Check every state from your orders
Drop your orders export. Nexustally measures your sales and transactions over each state's own window, applies its dollar and transaction tests and its marketplace rule, and shows where you're over, close or under. It runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
How it works
- Drop your orders export (CSV or Excel) covering last year and this year — or try the sample, or download the template.
- Check the as-of date (it defaults to your last order) and your home state.
- Read each state's status and why, then print the summary. With Pro, download the Excel workbook and the state, monthly and order CSVs.
Why Nexustally
For e-commerce sellers, bookkeepers and accountants who need to know which states a business has to register in for sales tax.
From the export you have
Drop a Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce, Etsy or accounting orders export as CSV or Excel. Line items of one order count as one transaction.
Each state's own window
Previous or current calendar year, previous year only, trailing 12 months, 12 months to the last quarter end, New York's quarters, Connecticut's year to September 30.
Marketplace rules
Amazon, Etsy, eBay and Walmart sales are counted or left out per state, with the amount shown. Resale and exempt sales are left out where a state counts only retail or taxable sales.
Dollars and transactions
“Or” and “and” tests, “exceeds” vs “or more”, and the 2026 changes: Illinois and Kentucky dropped their 200-transaction tests.
Before you cross
States getting close (75% by default), states where a quarter-end measurement is coming, and states that apply from next January.
Workbook for your adviser
Pro exports an Excel workbook: every state, monthly sales by state, the orders used, the rule table and the checks.

FAQ
What does Nexustally do?
It reads your orders and, for each state, measures your sales and transactions over the period that state uses, compares them with its economic nexus threshold and tells you whether you're over, close or under. It doesn't calculate tax, register you or file returns.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Your file is read by JavaScript in your browser tab and never sent to us or anyone else. Orders aren't stored, so closing the tab clears them. Your settings (as-of date, home state, company name) can be saved in this browser.
Which files can I use?
CSV, tab-separated or Excel with one row per order or line item. A date, a ship-to state and an amount are required; order ID, country, channel and customer type are optional. Shopify, Amazon and WooCommerce exports are recognised. Download the template to see the layout.
What's free?
Importing any number of orders, the counts (states over, close and under), every check, plus full rows for the first 10 states, which are the ones over or closest to their threshold. Pro shows and exports everything: all states, the Excel workbook, and the state, monthly and order CSVs.
What isn't covered?
Physical nexus (offices, staff, inventory — including Amazon FBA inventory), local thresholds in Alaska and home-rule cities, Pennsylvania's $10,000 notice rule, registration start dates, tax rates and taxability, and income or gross-receipts taxes.
Is this tax advice?
No. Nexustally applies a rule table taken from the Sales Tax Institute economic nexus chart as of August 1, 2026, checked against several state sources, to the data you provide. Thresholds change; confirm with each state or your tax adviser before registering.
