A sales-tax nexus tracker built from your own orders

Instead of a spreadsheet of thresholds you update by hand, drop your orders and get every state's status, window and percentage, then export the Excel workbook.

Why a static threshold list isn't enough

Knowing that a state's threshold is $100,000 doesn't tell you whether you've met it: one state measures the previous calendar year, another the current year, another the last 12 months or the four quarters ending last quarter. New York uses its own sales-tax quarters (NY Tax Department). Connecticut uses the 12 months ending September 30. Nexustally measures each state's window from your order dates.

What you get

  • Every state, one table: the threshold, the window the state measures, your sales and transactions in that window, the percentage of the threshold and the date you first met it.
  • Status: over the threshold, applies next January (states that look at the previous year), at the next quarter end, getting close, or under.
  • Marketplace and resale sales left out where a state doesn't count them, with the amount shown.
  • Monthly sales by state, to see where you're growing.
  • Checks: short date ranges, refunds, rows outside the US, the 2026 Illinois and Kentucky changes, Pennsylvania's $10,000 rule.

Your order data stays on your computer

Nexustally reads your export with JavaScript in your browser tab. Nothing is uploaded and there's no account to create. Close the tab and the orders are gone. Your settings (as-of date, home state, company name) can be saved in this browser; the orders aren't.

How it works

  1. Drop your orders export (CSV or Excel) covering last year and this year β€” or try the sample, or download the template.
  2. Check the as-of date (it defaults to your last order) and your home state.
  3. Read each state's status and why, then print the summary. With Pro, download the Excel workbook and the state, monthly and order CSVs.

FAQ

What does Nexustally do?

It reads your orders and, for each state, measures your sales and transactions over the period that state uses, compares them with its economic nexus threshold and tells you whether you're over, close or under. It doesn't calculate tax, register you or file returns.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Your file is read by JavaScript in your browser tab and never sent to us or anyone else. Orders aren't stored, so closing the tab clears them. Your settings (as-of date, home state, company name) can be saved in this browser.

Which files can I use?

CSV, tab-separated or Excel with one row per order or line item. A date, a ship-to state and an amount are required; order ID, country, channel and customer type are optional. Shopify, Amazon and WooCommerce exports are recognised. Download the template to see the layout.

What's free?

Importing any number of orders, the counts (states over, close and under), every check, plus full rows for the first 10 states, which are the ones over or closest to their threshold. Pro shows and exports everything: all states, the Excel workbook, and the state, monthly and order CSVs.

What isn't covered?

Physical nexus (offices, staff, inventory β€” including Amazon FBA inventory), local thresholds in Alaska and home-rule cities, Pennsylvania's $10,000 notice rule, registration start dates, tax rates and taxability, and income or gross-receipts taxes.

Is this tax advice?

No. Nexustally applies a rule table taken from the Sales Tax Institute economic nexus chart as of August 1, 2026, checked against several state sources, to the data you provide. Thresholds change; confirm with each state or your tax adviser before registering.
